Kids Programs
We offer a variety of programs for children. Program descriptions are listed below. Please check the individual program listing for registration details.
All-Sport and Conditioning Camp
An innovative and intense speed camp developed to enhance the athletes speed for any sport! Learn how to run faster and efficiently for: football, soccer, softball, track, basketball, baseball, lacrosse & tennis. Each athlete will receive training and instructional lessons on how to improve their speed for all sports. This training that will improve your athletic agility and basic conditioning. This camp will be held in July.
Baseball Registration is now open.
This program is open to children entering Kindergarten in the 2009-2010 school year through 2nd grade. Pre-K & K players will be co-ed and will pay T-ball. 1st & 2nd grade boys will have a Machine Pitch program. This program begins in the middle of April with most games on Saturday and practice one night a week. Registration Deadline has been extended to March 5, 2010.
Basketball
This program begins in November for Boys and Girls entering K - 8th grade in the 2010-2011 school year.
Flag Football
This program is open to children ages 6-14, (must be this age by Sept. 1, 2009). Ages 6-11 will be co-ed. Ages 12-14 will be seperated. Practices & games will be held weekday evenings in June, July and August at the Bryan Freeman Park.
Golf - Golden Pheasant Golf Course
Instructor: Jim Bergen. This instructional, 4 day program runs, Monday - Thursday, and are at the Golden Pheasant Golf Course. The program includes: golf etiquette, putting, chipping and driving. Left handed clubs are available. Program is open to the first 10 registrants. This program run Spring 2010.
Golf - Springfield Golf Center
Lumberton Recreation partnering with Springfield Golf Center. Instructional classes for ages 6-17 are held at Springfield Golf Center, under the supervision of PGA pro, Mike Beal. We will be offering a variety of classes and clinics throughout the year. All skill levels are welcome and encouraged to take advantage of this great opportunity. Varies programs are held Spring through Summer.
Hockey Registration is now open.
The Roller Hockey program begins mid to late April for children currently in K - 11th grade. Games are played during the week and Saturday/Sunday. The season will last 10 weeks. All players must have protective gear to play (head, face, elbows and knee-shin pads). This program does involve traveling. Registration Deadline has been extended to February 26, 2010.
Karate - Open to children ages 5-12, this 6 week program will be held at FLW School on Wednesday’s night’s 6 – 7pm starting January 27th. This program will help develop your child’s enthusiasm, self discipline, self confidence, good communication, positive mental attitude, physical fitness, temper control, courage, integrity, listening, desire, honesty, and ambition.
Mad Science Summer Camps
Camp# 1 - Mad Machines & Jr. Engineers will be held August 2 - August 6, 2010 for ages
6 - 12 years from 9:00am - 12:00 pm. Whether your child loves to build things or destroy them this wee of camp includes alot of both. They will build their own Catapults, Sonic Race Car and much more to take home. A minimum of 12 registrants are needed to run this camp.
Camp# 2 - Space: Infinity & Beyond! will be held August 23 - August 27, 2010 for ages
6 - 12 years from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. Students explore the mysteries of the solar system and the scince bhind air & space travel. They will build balloon-copters, boomerangs and mini hovercraft to take home. Build their own Estes model rocket to blast off on a real space mission. A minimum of 12 registrants are needed to run this camp.
Both camps are held in the Township Community Room.
Soccer-Indoor
This program is open to children currently in K-8th grades. Games are played on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings. This program begins late January, early February.
Soccer Pre-School Indoor
This program is open to children 3 - 5 years old. This program is non-competitive with an emphasis on direction and lessions. This program will begin in January 2011.
Soccer-Outdoor
This program is open to children who are entering K-8th grades for 2010 -2011 school year. Practices will begin late August, games will be in September and October 2010.
Pre-School Outdoor Soccer Registration is now open.
This program is a great way to introduce soccer to 3 – 5 year old boys and girls, who are not currently in Kindergarten. They will learn the fundamentals of soccer through a program of structured activities and fun games. This program is fun based & developmental. The emphasis is on FUN! This program will be held Wednesday nights starting March 24th.
Spanish - Registration is now open.
This 5 week program is open to children 3 - 6 years. The class combines songs, games, crafts, dancing and more to help your child learn a foreign language. Program begins
April 1, 2010.
Spanish Summer Camp
This week long camp will be held August 9 - August 13, 2010 for ages 3 - 5, 4 - 6 and 7 - 9 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. Sports, games, music and water activities are presented with an innovative approach to teaching a foreign language. This camp is held in the Township Community Room.
Tennis
This instructional 6 week program will be held on Tuesday & Thursday nights at the Village Green. This program will begin on June 22, 2010 for ages 6 - 16.
Tennis Quik Start Registration is now open.
This 6 week program will be held on Tuesday and Thursday nights starting April 20th at the Bryan Freeman Park. Quik Start Tennis is an exiting new play format for learning, desgined to bring kids into the game by utililizing specialized equipment, shorter court dimensions and modified scoring, all tailored to age and size fo the student. It's the fast, fun way to get kids into tennis. For ages 5 - 14.
Tumblin' Tots Registration is now open.
This 8 week program is open to children ages 2 1/2 - 4. This program focuses on building motor skills and coordination while children are having fun and developing social skills. Classes will involve movement, music, gymnastics, games, listening, and cooperation. Program begins March 31, 2010.
